VYEPTI® Infusion Therapy
Doctors prescribe VYEPTI® (eptinezumab-jjmr) for many patients living with chronic migraines. An injectable medication, VYEPTI infusion therapy is usually prescribed after other medications have not been effective. A treatment plan that includes infusions of VYEPTI may help patients live a more comfortable life with fewer migraine episodes.
About VYEPTI® Infusion Therapy
VYEPTI is a brand-name prescription medication with the active ingredient eptinezumab-jjmr. It is formulated to prevent the occurrence of episodic or chronic migraines. VYEPTI is a biologic, which is a medication type made from parts of living cells.
Patients with chronic migraines have often tried other medications and treatment options before their physician recommends VYEPTI. Clinical studies of patients using VYEPTI have shown it to be effective after just one treatment in lessening the number of migraines patients experience.
Conditions Treated by VYEPTI®
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved VYEPTI to help prevent episodic and chronic migraines. It’s important to note that VYYEPTI does not treat active migraine symptoms — it helps prevent them from happening in the first place. Chronic migraines can often be managed with medication and trigger prevention.
Migraines are severe headaches accompanied by varying symptoms of throbbing pain, nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light and noise, and more. A protein in the body called calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) is believed to play a part in the cause of migraine episodes. VYEPTI infusion therapy works to block CGRP, thus preventing migraines from occurring in the future.
What to Expect During VYEPTI® Infusion Therapy
VYEPTI is an IV medication administered via IV infusion. It is prescribed by the patient’s physician, usually on a scheduled treatment plan of one injection every three months.
As with any medication, side effects or allergic reactions are always possible. Before your first infusion, the FlexCare team will educate you about VYEPTI infusion therapy and what to expect following your treatment. Because the medication is administered directly into the bloodstream, it starts working as soon as the patient receives their first dose.
At FlexCare Infusion Centers, our priorities are always patient comfort, communication, and convenience. After your physician refers you to our stand-alone infusion center, we communicate with you both throughout every step of your treatment plan. We are also pleased to offer convenient evening and weekend appointment hours, plus comfortable infusion suites that include heated massage chairs, streaming audio and video, and other amenities to make your VYEPTI infusion therapy experience as comfortable as possible.
