At FlexCare Infusion Centers, we have a simple and efficient process for how we partner with referring providers, with patient comfort and convenience always being our top priority. We know that receiving a diagnosis for a rare, complex, or chronic condition can be overwhelming for patients, and we strive to make our process as simple and helpful as possible for both the patient and the referring provider.
Here are the basic steps for how we partner with referring providers and get started with infusion therapy as quickly as possible.
1. The referring provider submits a referral form to us
The first step is for the referring provider to submit a referral form to us with any supporting documentation about your medical history and diagnosis. We have a variety of referral forms conveniently located on our website.
The provider’s office can use their own intake form, if preferred, but our forms include a convenient checklist of any lab work or clinical notes necessary to get insurance approval for starting infusion therapy.
2. We handle the insurance authorization
After we receive the referral form and all other necessary information, the FlexCare intake team processes that information, follows up with the provider’s office if needed, and submits an authorization request to the insurance company.
We have extensive experience in working with insurance companies and prior authorization requests, and our goal is to make it as easy as possible for the referring provider’s office to work with us.
3. We strive to get treatment started quickly
Because of our team’s specialized experience with submitting authorization requests, most insurance approvals are confirmed within about one week of submission. This allows us to begin infusion treatments quickly and often means much-needed relief of symptoms for the patient.
We have treatments available for a variety of medical conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, osteoporosis, allergic asthma, immunodeficiency, neuropathy, and more. You can review the list of medications we provide, though it may fluctuate based on medication availability and approval status.
4. We provide outstanding care and support for patients
We understand that communication is important, especially when it involves your health or the health of a loved one. The FlexCare team keeps patients informed about their insurance coverage, the authorization process, and any out-of-pocket expenses.
We want patients to understand the timing of appointments and what to expect from treatments, and our team is here to answer any question throughout the process.
5. We send updates to referring providers
In addition to making sure patients understand the infusion treatment process, we also keep an open line of communication with the referring provider. We provide a detailed report after each infusion with information about dosage, timing, and how the patient responded during the infusion.
We know the best way to provide patient care is to communicate with everyone involved – which includes both the patient and the referring provider.
